Jackson Metro Eats: Spice Avenue

A few weeks ago, I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried Indian food with Gdget (Bombay Bistro. Well, just to confirm my thoughts on it, and get Patrick to try better curry than he had in Iraq, we went to Spice Avenue.

We were there really, really early so we were the only people there, although I did notice several people picking up to-go orders.

We started with veggie Samosas (I think).

Little potato dumplings in a spicy coating, with strong hints of cinnamon. I also noticed chickpeas and mint. Not a bad way to start off your meal.

I saved my naan to eat with my entree. It was good, but a little dry and lacking the garlic mentioned on the menu.

Next up, entrees. I had chicken tikka masala, Patrick had lamb curry, and we split an order of jasmine rice.

It's funny, I liked Patrick's better and he liked mine, but we had so much, we could have made 3 meals out of it. Mine had bright flavors, and a good bit of spice (my nose was running by the end of it). I liked it, but thought the lamb curry had a richer, better developed flavor.

Overall a good experience and fun change to our typical date night.

  1. I thought we ordered jasmine, but with my very, very limited knowledge of Indian food, it could have been basmati. I'll post a picture in a minute.

  2. Except, I didn't take a picture of the rice.
