We started out with the shrimp fritters, and we didn't really like it. The components were good; shrimp, stuffing, and prosciutto, but they just didn't seem to work. Part of that might be the seafood snob in me thinking the shrimp was over cooked.
I had the seared scallops, with a roasted corn salsa on a bed of shrimp and feta risotto. It was fabulous. The scallops were huge and cooked perfectly. The risotto was one of the best I've ever had and the corn salsa gave it a huge punch of bright, fresh flavor.
Patrick had the veal piccatta with lump crab meat on white truffle risotto with asparagus. He was between two entrées, and when he asked our waiter, he said that they had tried to take the veal off the menu several times, but the customers wouldn't let them....that sealed his decision. It was delicious. The veal was perfectly fried and delicate, not overcooked a second. The risotto was fabulous and the asparagus tender, with a hint of lemon. There was nothing left on his plate when he was done.
We couldn't leave without trying dessert:
Patrick had the bread pudding. It was rich and he loved it.
I had one of the special desserts, the flourless chocolate torte. It was the last slice, so it's a little smaller than usual and free. It was so decadent and rich that I don't think I could have eaten a whole slice. It was perfect, the vanilla cream tasted like melted ice cream and the raspberries were a perfect punch.
Loved it! Can't wait to go back!
OH MY WORD - I want your slice!! I love reading these "Jackson Metro Eats" blog posts!!!
