I started with a salad, with green goddess dressing (yum!) and there are no pictures. I was starving and it was good. I was already half way done before I even thought of taking a picture. The salad was nice and fresh, with lots of dark lettuce and man, that dressing. It was so, so yummy, and you could tell it was made in house. The only thing that would have made it better (to me), would be a few more croutons. I only had one, and it was delish, but a few more would have been nice.
I went with the Ziti with Wild Mushrooms and Pancetta.
Yummy, yummy, yummy. The mushroom were definitely the star of this dish and I do love some mushrooms. The sauce was super flavorful, and it didn't drown the ziti, like a lot of places do. The pancetta was good, but not as noticeable as I thought it would be. I was expecting big chunks, not delicate little pieces. If I had known that, I may have added chicken, but it was still really good. The focaccia was good, but I wish it was a little more herby (rosemary, maybe). Not a criticism, just a personal opinion.
Patrick went with his fave, the Bobby Flay burger and sweet potato fries:
It was good. He really likes the BBQ sauce and the way it works with the rest of the burger. And he always gets the sweet potato fries (and I always steal a few). They are really tasty.
You can't go to Sal and Mookie's without dessert. Mookie's Brownie ala Mode:
You know you want this right? It's good, with their always delicious ice cream. The brown was still warm, crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. You really can't go wrong with Sal and Mookie's desserts!
Yep - I'm now feeling the urge to drive over for lunch today. GOOD LORDY that burger and sweet potato fries look DIVINE!!!!! I LOVE sweet potato fries!! And I LOVE Sal and Mookies!!
ReplyDelete@Joy: Anytime you feel the need to drive over for Sal and Mookie's (or Walker's or lots of other places) give me a call. His burger was good...and the fries were even better.
